If you’re responsible for protecting your business from serious disruption due to a cyber attack, it’s time to think beyond just ransomware.
Ransomware is only one tactic in a much broader strategy.
The real risk lies in something bigger: interruption of revenue-generating processes.
Start here:
-
Map out the core business processes that directly drive revenue. Ask: If this were disrupted, how much would we lose—per hour, per day?
-
Identify which of these processes lack fast, reliable recovery paths. In other words, which ones can’t be easily repaired or brought back to a safe state?
Then act. Strengthen your controls and disaster recovery plans around those processes first.
Right now, threat actors focus on ransomware because many businesses still aren’t prepared. But once that changes, attackers won’t disappear - they’ll adapt.
The methods they use are infinite. But the number of critical business processes worth targeting is finite.
And so are the ways we can protect and recover them.
That’s your leverage. Start there.
